Brief description of trial (Data source: BASEC)
Die Studie untersucht den Einfluss der VR App auf die präoperative Vorbereitung der Kindern und ihres begleitenden Elternteils. An 3 verschiedenen Zeitpunkten (T0 - T2) erfassen Kinder und Eltern ihre Angst mit zwei verschiedenen grafischen Scores. Postoperativ (T3) erfassen die Kinder ihre Angst mit den grafischen Scores. 14 Tag nach der Operation (T4) wird die Zufriedenheit der Eltern mittels Fragebogen erhoben, bei der Interventionsgruppe wird noch die Zufriedenheit mit der VR App erhoben (auch T4).

Ein Spitaleintritt ist für Kinder und Eltern eine belastende Situation, deshalb legen wir Wert auf eine gute Vorbereitung, die bereits zu Hause beginnt. Bis anhin wurden Informationen zum Spitalaufenthalt in schriftlicher Form abgegeben und über unsere Homepage konnte ein Film heruntergeladen werden. Neu steht eine VR App zur Verfügung.

Einfluss der präoperativen VR App Anwendung im häuslichen Umfeld auf die Angst. Die Interventionsgruppe erhält ein "On-Boarding"-Paket, bestehend aus Google Cardboard (VR Brille aus Karton), Plüschpinguin (Kimi) und einer Bedienungsanleitung, welche das Herunterladen der VR App ermöglicht. In Kombination mit einem smartphone erlaubt dieses Paket dem Kind (inkl. seinen Eltern), sich zu Hause in Ruhe mit dem bevorstehenden Spitalaufenthalt sowie den Abläufen rund um die OP vertraut zu machen. Kimi, der Pinguin, führt eine virtuelle Tour durch die relevanten Räume des Spitals und erklärt, was dort passieren wird.

Kinder im Alter von 7 - 13 Jahren, mit geplantem operativen Eingriff in Vollnarkose.
Exclusion criteria

Unvermögen des Kindes oder der Eltern, die deutschsprachige App zu bedienen oder zu verstehen; fehlender technische Zugang zur App; Anästhesieerfahrung.

Inclusion Criteria:
1. The child is between the age of 7 and 13 years
2. The child is undergoing an elective surgical procedure under general anesthesia
3. The child understands Swiss German
4. The parent(s) understand(s) German
5. The parent(s) possess a smart phone
6. Internet access is given
7. The patient information has been explained
8. Informed Consent is signed
Exclusion Criteria:
1. The child has a hearing impairment
2. The child has neurologic disorder
3. The child requires postoperative intensive care
4. The child has previous experience of anesthesia
5. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) score of III or greater
