Brief description of trial (Data source: BASEC)
Rauchstoppwillige HIV-infizierte Personen, welche im Rahmen der Schweizerischen HIV Kohortenstudie betreut werden, werden nach dem Zufallsprinzip entweder in eine Interventions- oder Kontrollgruppe eingeteilt. Ziel der Studie ist es, in der Interventionsgruppe mit einer unterstützenden und motivationsfördernden Smartphone Applikation und Kohlenmonoxid (CO) Selbstmessung in der Ausatmungsluft eine höhere Nikotinabstinenz zu erreichen als in der Kontrollgruppe. Nach erfolgreichem Rauchstopp lässt sich schon nach 12 Stunden kein giftiges CO mehr in der Ausatmungsluft nachweisen. Basierend auf den Eingaben und der CO Selbstmessung erteilt die Smartphone Applikation personalisierte Ratschläge um den Rauchstopp zu fördern und aufrecht zu erhalten. Die Kontrollgruppe wird im Rahmen der halbjährlichen ärztlichen Untersuchung betreffend Rauchstopp beraten. Studienteilnehmer in beiden Gruppen erhalten falls gewünscht durch die betreuenden Ärzte der Kohortenstudie Nikotinersatzpräparate.
Ziel der Studie ist es nachzuweisen, dass nach 6 Monaten mehr Personen in der Interventions- als in der Kontrollgruppe nachweislich mit dem Rauchen aufgehört haben.

Inclusion Criteria:
HIV-infected smokers = 16 years and smoking = 3 cigarettes /day enrolled into the Swiss HIV
Cohort Study Willingness to quit smoking Speaking one or more of offical Swiss national
languages or English Users of smartphone (specifically iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6+ running iOS
Version 8.0+; smartphones with resolution of at least 800x400 pixels running, Android
Version 5.0+, and Android smartwatches) Informed consent
Exclusion Criteria:
Limitations in hearing, comprehension or vision problems that preclude full study
