Ziel dieser Studie ist es zu untersuchen, ob das Prüfmedikament namens TQJ230 das Risiko für eine kardiovaskuläre Erkrankung bei Patienten mit erhöhtem Lipoprotein(a), kurz Lp(a), im Vergleich zu Placebo senken kann.

Bei einer kardiovaskulären Erkrankung können die Blutgefässe blockiert werden, was dann wiederum zu einem Herzinfarkt oder Schlaganfall führen kann oder zu Durchblutungsstörungen in anderen Gefässen z.B. in den Beinen. Lipoprotein(a), abgekürzt als Lp(a) ist ein Partikel, das im Blut vorkommt und Blutfette transportiert. Wenn zu viel davon vorhanden ist, kann es die Wahrscheinlichkeit für die Entwicklung einer kardiovaskulären Erkrankung erhöhen. Patienten, die bereits einen Herzinfarkt oder Schlaganfall oder eine periphere arterielle Verschlusskrankheit hatten und dazu erhöhtes Lp(a) aufweisen, habe eines erhöhtes Risiko für weitere kardiovaskuläre Komplikationen.

Die vorliegende Studie untersucht, ob das Medikament namens TQJ230 sicher ist und Patienten mit bestehender kardiovaskulärer Erkrankung und erhöhtem Lipoprotein(a) helfen kann, das Risiko für Herzinfarkt, Schlaganfall, Verfahren zur Wiederherstellung der Durchblutung der Herzarterien oder Tod zu verringern. Das Prüfmedikament TQJ230 verringert die Bildung eines Proteins, das ein Bestandteil von Lp(a) ist. Dadurch wird in der Folge der Spiegel des Lp(a) im Blut gesenkt. TQJ230 wird unter die Haut verabreicht, das heisst subkutan injiziert.

Teilnehmen können Patienten, die mindestens 18 Jahre alt sind, die an einer bestehenden kardiovaskulären Erkrankung leiden und welche erhöhte Lipoprotein(a)-Spiegel aufweisen.
Eine vorbestehende kardiovaskuläre Erkrankung ist definiert als Herzinfrakt, Schlaganfall oder periphere arterielle Verschlusskrankheit in der Vorgeschichte.

Nicht teilnehmen dürfen Personen, die keine ausreichende Verhütung praktizieren, sowie schwangere und stillende Frauen.

Maximum age: 80 Years
Minimum age: 18 Years
Key Inclusion Criteria
- Lp(a) = 70 mg/dL at the screening visit, measured at the Central laboratory
- Myocardial infarction: = 3 months from screening and randomization to = 10 years prior
to the screening visit
- Ischemic stroke: = 3 months from screening and randomization to = 10 years prior to
the screening visit
- Clinically significant symptomatic peripheral artery disease
Key Exclusion Criteria
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Heart failure New York Heart Association (NYHA) class IV
- History of malignancy of any organ system
- History of hemorrhagic stroke or other major bleeding
- Platelet count =LLN
- Active liver disease or hepatic dysfunction
- Significant kidney disease
- Pregnant or nursing women
