Brief description of trial (Data source: BASEC)
Viele klinische Studien haben gezeigt, dass aufgrund der Anzahl zirkulierender Tumorzellen eine prognostische Aussage auf den Krankheitsverlauf möglich sein kann. Bisher sind nur spärliche Informationen über CTC während der perioperativen Phase vorhanden.
Es ist ausserdem bekannt, dass Anästhetika einen Einfluss auf die Immunmodulation haben. Wir nehmen an, dass Anästhetika auch einen Einfluss auf die Kinetik der CTC in der postoperativen Phase haben und somit den Krankheitsverlauf bezüglich Rezidiv oder Metastasierung beeinflussen können.

Nach schriftlicher Einwilligung werden die Patientinnen/Patienten kurz vor der Narkose randomisiert. Die Einleitung wird in beiden Gruppen mit den gleichen Medikamenten durchgeführt. Die Aufrechterhaltung der Narkose wird gemäß Randomisierung weitergeführt:
1) „Gruppe Desfluran“: inhalative Anästhesie mit Desfluran
2) „Gruppe Propofol“: intravenöse Anästhesie mit Propofol

Alter zwischen 18 und 85 Jahren, ASA I-III, primäres Pankreaskarzinom, primärer Eingriff, keine neoadjuvante Therapie
Exclusion criteria

Metastasierendes Pankreaskarzinom, andere als primäre Eingriffe, präoperative Chemotherapie, chronische Opiatbehandlung, bekannte Allergien gegen Propofol, Soja oder Eiproteine, bekannte Überempfindlichkeit gegen volatile Anästhetika (maligne Hyperthermie), Schwangere oder stillende Frauen, Einschluss in eine andere klinische Studie bis zu 30 Tage vor Beginn und/oder 30 Tage nach Abschluss in diese Studie

Inclusion Criteria:
- Age 18 to 85
- ASA I-III ( American Society of Anesthesiologists)
- Resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma
- Primary surgery
- No neoadjuvant therapy
- Written informed consent
Exclusion Criteria:
- Metastatic disease
- Other than primary surgery (recurrence, reconstruction)
- Pre-operative chemotherapy
- Chronic opioid use
- Known hypersensitivity or suspected allergy to propofol, soya or egg proteins
- Known hypersensitivity to volatile anaesthetics (malignant hyperthermia)
- Pregnancy
- Breast feeding
- Enrolment in any other clinical trial during the course of this trial, 30 days prior
to its beginning or 30 days after its completion
