Brief description of trial (Data source: BASEC)
Mit der vorliegenden Studie will der Sponsor untersuchen, ob BCX7353 Attacken des hereditäres Angioödem vorbeugen kann und welche Dosierung dafür notwendig ist. Prüfsubstanz und Placebo werden in Kapseln ausgegeben, die einmal täglich oral eingenommen werden müssen.
Die Studie ist unterteilt. Es werden Dosierungen von 62,5 mg bis 350 mg untersucht. Von der Dosierung hängt die Anzahl der Kapseln ab. Es müssen 2 oder 3 Kapseln genommen werden. Die Zuordnung zu Prüfsubstanz und Placebo erfolgt zufällig.
Im Studienzeitraum jeweils 9 Wochen sind für Sie mindestens 6 Besuche am Studienzentrum vorgesehen.

Criteria for participation in trial

- Männer und nicht-schwangere, nicht-stillende Frauen im Alter zwischen 18 und 70 Jahren mit einer klinische Diagnose auf das hereditäre Angioödem von Typ 1 oder 2
- Alle TeilnehmerInnen müssen nachweisen können, dass sie unter HAE Attckane leiden und für Attacken Zugriff auf mindestens eines von der Zulassungsbehörde zugelassenen Medikaments zur Behandlung akuter HAE-Attacken sowie die Fähigkeit zu dessen korrekter Verwendung haben
- teilnehmende Frauen im gebärfähigen Alter müssen mindestens eine effektive Verhütungsmethode anwenden; teilnehmende Männer mit Partnerinnen im gebärfähigen Alter müssen mindestens eine effektive Verhütungsmethode anwenden
Exclusion criteria

- Klinisch signifikante medizinische oder psychiatrische Beschwerden oder eine klinisch signifikante Krankheitsgeschichte, insbesondere Erkrankungen des Herzens, der Nieren und der Leber
- Verwendung von C1-INH, Androgenen oder Tranexamsäure zum Zwecke der Vorbeugung gegen HAE-Attacken innerhalb eines Zeitraums von 7 Tagen vor dem Termin der Voruntersuchung oder die Aufnahme einer entsprechenden Verwendung zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt während der Studie

Key Inclusion Criteria:
- A clinical diagnosis of HAE type I or II
- Documented HAE attacks within a defined calendar period
- Access to acute attack medications
- Sexually active women of child-bearing potential and sexually active men must utilize
effective contraception
Key Exclusion Criteria:
- Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding
- Any clinical condition or medical history that would interfere with the subject's
safety or ability to participate in the study
- Use of C1INH, androgens or tranexamic acid for prophylaxis of HAE attacks
- History of or current alcohol or drug abuse
- Infection with hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV
- Participation in any other investigational drug study currently or within the last 30
days
