Wir wollen mit diesem Projekt untersuchen, ob die Süssungsmittel Xylit und Erythrit in niedrigen Konzentrationen einen Effekt auf die Freisetzung von Sättigungshormone, die Magenentleerung, sowie das Sättigungsempfinden haben. Des Weiteren wird die Magendarmverträglichkeit von Xylit und Erythrit untersucht. Die Freiwilligen in zwei Gruppen eingeteilt (Xylit-Gruppe oder Erythrit-Gruppe) und werden zu je 3 Studientagen aufgerufen. An diesen drei Tagen erhalten sie entweder Xylit oder Erythrit in 3 verschiedenen Dosierungen. In regelmässigen Abständen werden Blutabnahmen gemacht um die Sättigungshormone zu messen. Weiter werden Atemproben genommen und die Ausatemluft analysiert, was Rückschlüsse auf die Magenentleerung zulässt. Wir fragen die Probanden auch nach ihrem Sättigungsempfinden und nach Magendarmbeschwerden.

Nach Einnahme des Süssungsmittels werden im Blut der Blutzucker, Insulin, C-Peptid, Glukagon, sowie die Freisetzung von Sättigungshormonen(CCK, GLP-1, PYY und Ghrelin) gemessen. Die Magenentleerung wird über Atemproben ermittelt. Das subjektives Sättigungsempfinden wird mittels Fragebogen ermittelt und die Magendarmverträglichkeit wird ebenso erfragt.

Inclusion Criteria:
- Healthy normal weight subjects with a body-mass index of 19.0-24.9
- Normal eating habits (no diets; no dietary changes; no special dietary habits, such as
vegetarian/vegan)
- Age 18-40 years
- Stable body weight for at least three months
- Informed Consent as documented by signature
Exclusion Criteria:
- Pre-existing consumption of xylitol or erythritol on a regular basis (usage of xylitol
or erythritol as sugar replacement; xylitol or erythritol containing toothpaste is
allowed)
- Regular intake of medications (except for oral contraceptives)
- Evidence of relevant cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, hepatic, pancreatic,
gastrointestinal, metabolic, endocrinological, neurological, psychiatric or other
diseases at screening
- Clinically relevant abnormalities in haematological laboratory parameters
- Food allergies, food intolerance
- Pregnancy
- Participation in another study with investigational drug within the 30 days preceding
and during the present study.
